CIRCLE - Panic »
Self-confessed New Wave Of Finnish Heavy Metal scene leaders Circle return with yet another "Speed Kraut" opus. Recently the band have been hanging around with similarly spaced out oddballs Sunburned Hand Of The Man, and I'm not sure of the precise chronology involved, but this release certainly seems like a departure from the wigged out sounds of the Sunburned Circle collaboration, ripping it up like Slayer covering 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' on 'Good Day Rising' whilst knocking out Motorhead shapes on 'Feed My Rabbit', leaving a bit of time to bash out Acid Mothers Temple oscillator spasms on 'Misheritage'. You'd never think that this sequence of tracks was bookend by ambient synth exercises like 'Black Tape' and the excellent 'And Far Away', both of which tap into the sort of new age experiments captured on J.D. Emmanuel's Wizards LP. Brilliant stuff, as ever.
