MARKUS HOLKKO - From Circuits With Love »
Markus Holkko's seldom- gigging solo project has been activated again! This ambient- jazz - orchestra was founded in Vallila, Helsinki in 2003.
The idea of this ambient- jazz - orchestra is to create a fresh sound by combining acoustic and electronic instruments. Moogs and other older analog synthesizers are an essential aspect in the band's expression. Holkko recognizes his influences as being the progressive and fusion bands of the 1970's which without being afraid of the noble skill of exaggeration, ambitiously and boldly found new ways of dealing with form and instrumentation among other things .
" One of my goals is also to include the esthetical values and substances of today's electronic music to improvised instrumental music without forgetting the energy of live- playing. The tunes as such must, however, work before they can be moulded in this process into something more permanent" , Holkko muses.
